OUR STORY
When David and Brigid Rice visited Dubbo they felt something was lacking.
The couple and their two young children came to town from Sydney for a camping trip where they took in all the regular attractions Dubbo has to offer.
But after moving to the town, they started to get the idea of starting their own business.
We've got three teenage girls now and we'd come to Dubbo on holidays because we are originally from Sydney, we were looking for something to do," Mr Rice said.
"We'd go to the coast and our girls would enjoy putt putt. It was something and exciting so we decided 'why not?'.
"We were in Oslo visiting Bridget's sister who lives over there and we did a four-week holiday then she took us to a putt putt place which is exactly what we wanted.
"It was relaxed, there was a bar there and the course was simple. There were no big or fancy moving objects, it was just a nice, fun and challenging course for all ages."
Pegasus Putt Putt will open its doors on December 14 in Blueridge Business Park and they've already received a lot of interest from people wanting to hold their next event at the venue.
Still with approximately four weeks until opening, the building still has to be shaped into the course but Mr Rice said they are enjoying the deadline.
"It is very exciting but we are very nervous at the moment," he said.
"It's been two years of planning and now, it's all happening in the last four weeks. It's crazy more than anything."
The 18-hole course will be wheelchair-accessible while function room has also been built.
A bar is also in the works.
As for what players can expect from the course, Mr Rice said some aspects will be tough.
It's fun for all ages, there are a couple of really challenging parts where people are going to be screaming 'why did you do this?'," he said.
"There are basic ones for the kids, there are no courses where an 85-year-old couldn't play and a four-year-old wouldn't be able to get through.
"The course is wheelchair-friendly, not every hole is but we've tried to get about half."
